PSYCHOTHERAPY FOR ACTORS & ARTISTS
CREATIVE PROCESS & PERFORMANCE
Besides being a psychotherapist, I have worked as an artist for over 15 years. Currently, I am focusing on realistic portraits utilizing the traditional methods of grisaille and the build up of multiple layers of transparent oil color. I draw every day. I also sculpt in wood and clay.
Creating works of art (graphic, literary, musical, theatrical) reveals your mind and emotions with immediacy, unmediated by words and secondary explanations. Your creative path can put you in touch with difficult emotions, painful memories, and obstacles. Psychotherapy for actors, artists, singers and other creative people can help you work through what you confront in pursuing your art.
I work with artists experiencing:
-
a plateau in their artistic growth
-
writer's block
-
performance anxiety
-
audition rejection
-
fear and timidity promoting themselves and their talents
-
the stress of managing a day job
-
coping with disapproving family members
Many young artists, writers, actors, and dancers come to New York City from elsewhere. Acclimating to NYC can be daunting and challenging. As a native New Yorker, I can help my patients thrive and find their strength in the Big Apple.
