 FAQ

TOP 7 QUESTIONS WE HEAR FROM PATIENTS
How long does a session last?

Generally speaking, sessions are 45 minutes long. However, occasionally a session may run a bit longer, as we find a suitable place to end for the day. In no case will it last longer than a hour, as I have other clients waiting for me.

How long will I be in therapy? What's the average length of time people stay in therapy?

The length of time varies from person to person, depending on their needs and goals.  Longer is not necessarily better.  Many people can benefit from focused short term therapy lasting about 12 sessions. Other people find weekly on-going sessions very helpful and may stay in therapy for a year or more. Still others find themselves returning from time to time for a brief "tune-up."

Will my employer find out that I am in psychotherapy?

Absolutely not.  First and foremost, your sessions with me are strictly confidential.

Can I pay by check?

Cash or  check is fine made out to Charles Eisenberg. You can also pay with your debit or credit card, using paypal on this site.

Will I have a treatment plan?

Yes, very definitely! We will work together to arrive at a customized treatment plan that is right for you.  We will establish measurable goals and review your progress from time to time so that we stay on track and remain effective.

Can I have my spouse or partner join me in a session?

I am certainly open to that so long as we both agree this will serve your therapeutic goals.

What if I think I need medication?

I would refer you to one of the psychiatrists that I work with. Alternatively, we may be able to work with your primary care physcian.  Often times, your PCP will be the right choice for evaluating your need for medication, prescribing and monitoring.
